Gone are the vanilla ice inspired trousers and ripped jeans, making way for grown up sophistication and trend inspired outfits that could have come straight from the catwalk!

And who may you ask is assisting this wonderful transformation from rebellious teen to fully fledged fashionista…Rah stylist Alexis!

This weeks BRITS appearance was no exception, chanelling Studio 54 the starlet arrived in a pink glittery jumpsuit and fierce Christian Louboutin Asteroid heels. Rah loves!

The event opened with a magic show and whilst guests dined unassumingly at their tables, models burst forth from the crowd — flash mob-style — in an energetic display of table-dancing, chair-passing, and rowdy hip-shaking, presenting the designers new collection. This catwalk alternative was warmly received by the guests, who included starlets such as Kate Moss, Stella Tennant, Yasmin Le Bon, and Rihanna.   “It was nice to see something different, something dramatic.The clothes looked great,” guest Bianca Jagger exclaimed.

With Rah’s background in fashion and live performance these events are the perfect marriage of our two passions.Be it an intimate consumer based trend presentation, flashmob, fully choreographed production, entertainers, acts; we can actualise any client brief.

A recent example of Rah’s live fashion performance at an award ceremony, where we incorporated a ballet performance into a MANGO catwalk to entertain guests.

We also have been working with a well known luxury jewellery brand, producing trend presentations for high end shopping events, which include models, choreography, music selection and personable stylists to style and present the looks.

Of course it cannot be ignored that in a world still in the grips of recession that these changes can also be influenced by budget cuts.LFW designer Richard Nicholl, who has forgone his usual show for a live installation acknowledged this point, adding that lavish productions did appear ‘outmoded’, particularly when you have so many other options!

Vogue states ‘The announcement has made waves in an industry made up of designers, in one camp, for whom a catwalk show is the ultimate branding tool and, in the other, for whom they are a costly and stressful prerequisite.’ The later obviously haven’t worked with Rah!

Can technology take over from the traditional? Can the front row experience be replicated at your desk?

Call us purists but here at Rah we believe there are certain aspects of a collection and atmospheric branding that can only be fully appreciated in person.

If the tumbling beehives, unmistakeable flicked heavy eye liner were to0 subtle a nod to the deceased music legend, Gautier gave extra hints to the identity of his muse within the name of each look.

The titles included “Brit Award” and “Love Is a Losing Game”, a title from her critically acclaimed and extremely successful 2^nd album ‘Back to Black’.

Rather than a straight homage, the clothes still honoured Gaultier’s own signatures such as corsetry, trend coats and colour pops that included pink, gold and chartreuse. The lovable eccentricity that Jean Paul Gaultier is well known for.

The climax of this loving tribute and truly surprising and eclectic show was all the models returning to the catwalk for the finale in lace mourning mantilla veils. The collision of sombre recollection and excess.

Vogue’s Harriet Quick said of the show, “He really loves ideas and he’s so clever at gelling them altogether. Couture gives him the space to really explore all the details and let his imagination run riot. It was Amy’s diva, rockabilly and Camden girls sensibilities all brilliantly mixed.”

Chanel – Never one to be out done Karl Lagerfeld built an Air Chanel jumbo jet to host his couture show.Complete with it’s wider than average gangway for the models to walk, illuminated numbered seats and transparent roof to reveal faux clouds above.

Dior – Dior offered a nostalgic nod to the 50’s with beautiful day dresses, dogtooth  checks and plenty of waisted pencil skirts, “The models could have stepped straight from Mad Men,” said Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman. John Gallionos presence was both felt and noted by the audience, ‘It was the complete opposite to John Galliano fantasy. It was very wearable’ she added.

Versace- The first couture offering since 2004 from Versace offered their classic elongated silhouettes, corseted and fitted. The show opened with with sea greys and steadily becoming warmer, through golds and finally bold greens and oranges. Full on glamour with no comprises.
