Special Effects On The Runway – Models Make A Splash

Fashion can be emotive and what better way of doing it then bringing the truly British weather to the catwalk. Rah created the effect of thunder lightening wind and rain for Lee Jeans new “workwear range” as well as the international sporting shows where we added the extra element of snow.

One of the smartest brands in modern fashion, Burberry has also brought rain and snow to their catwalks in London. Using weather effects can be a fitting end to your show leaving the audience in awe.

Light effects can also be key to enhance a garment as well as create the mood and tone of the collection, as the models walk the runway. Blackout is key to the environment to create maximum effect and will ensure the lighting show effects will be about enhancing the clothes and the brand. Though effects can still work in a light environment and still worth exploring

Another great example of this concept it when Alexander McQueen had rain pouring onto the runway for the spring 1998 collection, entitled ‘Golden Shower’.

Growing older stylishly – Advanced Style Blog

In an age and indeed industry where we are surrounded by the focus of beauty being youth, Rah would like to share  a welcome breath of fresh air in the form of the Advanced Style Blog. Fashion enthusiastic Ari Seth Cohen roams the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older generation. With the mantra ‘respect your elders and let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest’, Ari photographs and discusses the notion of style and age and shares these insights with the world.

From chic first lady-esque elegance, true 70’s bohemia to punk rock and every trend in between has been wonderfully and creatively presented by this generation. Words of wisdom and insight include 91 year old fashion icon Iris Apfel stating, ‘style is like a fine cheese, it gets better with age’, a statement this blog illustrates perfectly.

With over 8.5 million hits and national television appearances in America it appears that the Advanced Style ethos is being well received. Neither style or individuality have an age limit. There is a thought to make you smile on a Monday morning!

Ari Seth Cohen has released a book featuring high lights from his Advanced style blog, which can be purchased from Waterstones on the link below….

Behind the Scenes with Rah…

Backstage tip of the week

‘A really effective stain remover for grease or makeup is white bread, an ordinary cheap sliced loaf. Just dab the affected area with the bread and watch the stain dissolve before your eyes’.
